Soli Sorabjee :

Soli Sorabjee is a renowned Indian lawyer, legal scholar, and human rights advocate. He served as the Attorney General of India from 1998 to 2004 and has had an illustrious career spanning over six decades. He has appeared as a counsel in some of the most significant cases before the Indian Supreme Court and has made invaluable contributions to the development of Indian constitutional law. He has also been a vocal advocate for human rights in India and has been associated with several organizations working in the field of human rights. In recognition of his contributions to the legal profession, Sorabjee has received numerous awards and honors, including the Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan, which are among India’s highest civilian awards. He continues to be a respected figure in the legal community and an inspiration to many young lawyers.

The Collection:

The Soli Sorabjee Collection is a rare and invaluable addition to the Global Library’s collection. Donated by Mrs. Zena Sorabjee in memory of Soli Sorabjee, this collection comprises over 3800 books on a diverse range of subjects, including Constitutional Law, Biography, Conduct of Life, History, Modern India, Manners and Customs, Social Conditions, Politics and Government, and Jazz. It is an invaluable resource for anyone interested in understanding the legal, political, and social developments of modern India and the contributions of one of its most distinguished citizens. The Global Library is honored to have received this collection and is committed to preserving and making it accessible to the public for generations to come.

The collection is housed in the main library, on shelve no. 20 and 21. It includes rare and unique books that are kept as reference material in the central library and are available for use by scholars, researchers, and students.

How to borrow ?

Our self-checkout kiosk allows patrons to borrow books quickly and independently using their library ID card. The kiosk is located next to the help desk(3rd floor).Patrons can check out books from the collection for a 30-day loan period, which can be renewed once.
