To safeguard and ensure the enduring accessibility of historically significant information, JGU has established an Archive within the Global Library. This Archive serves as a dedicated repository for the preservation of intellectual and cultural heritage. The Archives team meticulously collects and conserves the personal papers and materials of distinguished individuals who have made remarkable contributions to their fields. It protects unpublished manuscripts, correspondence, research notes, photographs, and other ephemera, offering invaluable insights into the lives and achievements of these luminaries. These materials are carefully organized and preserved in accordance with the highest archival standards, ensuring their availability for future generations of scholars and researchers.
Recognizing the critical role of digital preservation and accessibility, the Global Library offers comprehensive expertise in digitization and digital archiving, and actively assists JGU archivists in their efforts. Leveraging open-source platforms such as ArchiveSpace and AtoM, we develop easily accessible digital collections. Our services encompass the entire archival process—from digitization and meticulous metadata creation to long-term preservation and seamless online access—ensuring these invaluable resources remain available for future generations of scholars and researchers. We also provide support to other institutions in establishing and managing their own digital archives.
